The Information Technology (IT) Engineer II class provides skilled technical services in support of installation, configuration, testing, integration, and ongoing support for City applications or infrastructure requiring an in-depth knowledge of the City's platforms and environment in support of meeting availability and performance goals. This class applies to Business Solutions and Application Development; Business Analytics; Database; Desktop and Mobile Services; Service Desk; GIS (Geographic Information System); Network; Security; Unified Communications; and Server, Storage and Backup. This class performs other duties as assigned and is FLSA exempt - computer professional.
GIS/CMMS Assignment: An IT Engineer II assigned to GIS/CMMS (Computer Maintenance Management Systems) is responsible for performing primary and secondary highly-technical production support for applications developed as a client server or web application and/or vendor-purchased application solutions. This assignment supports the development and management of enterprise GIS solutions, with a primary focus on critical web-based applications and interactive maps for municipal and City business operations. Roles may include analysis, design, engineering, development, configuration, programming, implementation, and providing ongoing application support to a host of desktop, web, or mobile GIS and CMMS applications. This class may perform technical and/or project leadership for a medium to large-size project at one time or multiple small to medium-scale projects concurrently. This class is responsible for independently performing specialized work on more complex assignments such as identifying and documenting business process requirements and automation opportunities; assisting the customer in new project definition; web development; testing; resolution of problems; system documentation; implementation; generation of reports; knowledge of data and databases; software/hardware configuration and integration; vendor evaluation; and support of new technologies. Responsibilities may include supervising and coordinating day-to-day activities of technical staff (by assignment).
The ideal candidate should also possess the ability to readily understand business processes, perform business analysis, be proficient with written and verbal communication, and have a track record of excellent customer service skills; experience with developing and maintaining technical documentation; and the ability to work in teams or independently. Familiarity with ArcGIS Hub, Image Server, Data Interoperability/ETL Processing, Python Scripting, Azteca Cityworks, Crystal Reports, Geocortex Essentials, Windows Server 2012-2019, IIS, and Visual Studio is a plus.

Minimum Qualifications Required. Any combination of training, education, and experience equivalent to graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, GIS, or a related field. Considerable (3 - 5 years) computer systems experience in at least one of the following technical support areas: GIS, Applications, Web Support, Database, or Security.
