The Local Government Hispanic Network is the leading support organization for Hispanic local government professionals. The Network operates in two ways: as a forum for individuals who are interested in programs and issues related to the Hispanic population and as a consortium of local governments that serve a significant Hispanic population.
Membership Categories and Eligibility Criteria
Individual Membership – All active and retired local government professionals are eligible to become members of the Network. Membership dues $100 per calendar year.
Large Local Government Membership – All local governments, special districts, authorities, council of governments or state/provincial associations of local governments with more than 1,000 employees are eligible to become members of the Network. Each Local Government Membership may designate up to fifteen (15) Individual Full Members. Membership dues $1,500 per calendar year.
Small Local Government Membership – All local governments, special districts, authorities, council of governments or state/provincial associations of local governments with less than 1,000 employees are eligible to become members of the Network. Each Small Local Government Membership may designate up to seven (7) Individual Full Members. Membership dues $750 per calendar year.
Chapter Networks – All Active members of an approved Chapter Network. Membership dues $75 per person.
Any additional member added to Large or Small Local Government Membership is $100 per calendar year.
Nonprofit Member – All active and retired education professionals of schools of public administration and active and retired nonprofit professionals of local government professional associations are eligible to become members of the Network. Membership dues $50 per calendar year.
Hermanos – Affiliate government profession members of associations such as National Forum of Black Public Administrators (NFBPA), the National Latino Officers Association, the National Latino Peace Officers Association; National Association of Hispanic Firefighters; and Reforma-The National Association to Promote Library and Information Services to Latinos and the Spanish Speaking; and other similar public sector advocacy and/or members associations. For groups not listed here, eligibility for LGHN membership will be determined by the LGHN Board of Directors on a case by case basis. Membership dues $50 per calendar year.
Student Member – Students at the undergraduate and graduate levels are eligible to become members of the Network. To be considered for Student Membership, a member must be a full-time student at an accredited college or university and not in a paid, full-time position. Membership dues $10 per calendar year. Students who are members of ICMA student chapters may join at no cost.
Individual Corporate Membership – Business leaders who have an interest in working with local governments. Membership $250 per calendar year.
Large Business Membership – Businesses with more than 200 employees who have an interest in working with local governments. Each Large Business Member may designate up to ten (10) employees as Individual Corporate Members of LGHN. Membership $2,000 per calendar year.
Small Business Membership – Businesses with 200 or fewer employees who have an interest in working with local governments. Each Small Business Member may designate up to five (5) employees as Individual Corporate Members of LGHN. Membership dues $1,000 per calendar year.
Any additional member added to Large or Small Business Membership is $100 per calendar year.

Listing in the LGHN Membership Directory
Through LGHN membership, you will join a growing list of local government professionals whose contact information is published in an annual membership directory. This directory and membership list is an invaluable networking tool. The directory is also available to executive recruitment firms seeking candidates for competitive recruitment and job placements.
Our LGHN conferences and workshops seek to bring the latest information to you about local government practices, trends, topics and issues. These events provide you an opportunity to communicate with other professionals working in local government and related professions. Additional member services are provided such as personal financial planning and access to career development coaches. The LGHN website will provide you with articles and reports relevant to local government issues and our electronic newsletters provides the latest information about members, local news, best practice programs, and linkages to employment opportunities.
Other Affiliate Service Opportunities
LGHN members are often sought by other related organizations such as the International City/County Management Association (ICMA). LGHN members participate in these organizations in order to provide insight and representation in committees focused on topics relevant to local government management and issues.
